I was drive home today and drove by the local Shell station, and glanced at the prices, I thought I read it wrong, so I read it again, $1.99! Gasoline finally dropped below $2.00 for the first time in a year and a half. That felt pretty good. I admit it, it was an emotion based purchase and I probably only saved $2 or so or so from the $2.159 price I was paying last week, but it still felt really good. I didnt’ really even need gas, I had 3/4 of a tank, but it just felt so good paying that price!

It’s no suprise that gasoline is rather cheap right now. We’ve had an exceptionally warm winter, lower oil prices, and people are driving more conciously than they were back in the hay-days of $.99 a gallon gasoline. The national price of gasoline is about $2.20 right now, and fortunately I’m in one of the cheaper parts of the country. Oil is around $50 a barrel, which is a sigh of relief compared to the $75 prices over the summer. Will it last? Probably not….but it feels good for now
