well, of course he's a multi millionaire... he's got HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of listeners, that are doing what he says, and sending him 25.00 for a book that cost him 8.00 to produce.... so, let's. see... that's a 17.00 profit on each book, sold to hundreds of thousands of listeners, plus all of the people handing over hard earned money to go to a seminar to hear common sense (don't live above your means!), and buying even MORE products out in the lobby, no doubt... of COURSE he's a multi millionaire! what does he do other than (with passion, obviously) tell people things they SHOULD already know...? does he have a job that he goes to, or is his fortune all from people that just did exactly what he told them NOT to do... spend money on something they really didn't need? (and thusly putting that money in HIS pocket... the guy that DOESN'T need the money.)

Right now I am a member of "The Total Money Make over" but I am thinking of leaving. I joined because I like his financial advice but the thing is like a cult. When callers address him as "his ministry" that spooks me. I have never had problems with debt, have adsorbed what he teaches and it is more of the samo. Ramsey is wacko about not borrowing. Previous blogs I think have a point--Ramsey appeals to the emotions. Thinking people start to numb after a while.

I'm just glad we respond emotionally, versus analytically. Before DR, we had 130K non-mortgage debts, now, 2.5 years later, we paid it ALL off. We do make a good living, however we made More, back then when we racked up the debts. It is about behavior, and trust me, I knew which card had the higher interest rate, I just didn't realize that that interest wasn't my problem.

We're growing wealthier, every day ,because of Dave Ramsey's book.

People just don't get that fact, by just changing some habits, anyone can become 'rich people'.

I never heard of him before.
I think paying off all debt as soon as you can is wise. Staying out of debt is hard especially in this “I want it now" society
But at the end of the day if you make a little bit of money on your debt you’re still in debt.

Real life is a mix of philosophy and mathematics. Different people respond differently to any particular mix. Dave Ramsey's advice works for many, but many others see him as a marketer who sells pseudo-religious financial advice not rooted in facts. "Right" and "wrong" are the wrong words to describe him.

Some people, who respond more to emotions than to facts, will succeed with Ramsey. Others with a mind that tends towards the analytical will see him differently.
