It’s no secret that I’m not a fan of the Quixtar multi-level marketing program, primarily because I don’t believe it’s a profitable or worthwhile business adventure. The market is just too saturated to have a very successful down-line, a lot of individuals in the business make wild claims to potential individual business operator (IBO) that don’t match up to reality, and the average IBO only makes around $150 a month. Even though it’s not worthwhile to become an individual business operator from Quixtar, is it still okay to purchase products from Quixtar and Quixtar IBO’s? No.

Quixtar offers a number of brands which they market exclusively, including Nutrilife, Atistry Skin Cosmetics, NAO Cosmetics, XS Energy Drinks, Atomosphere Air Purifier, and eSpring water purifiers. They also have some other less promoted brands that they also market for. Some people might think that they cannot go without some of these products, but they are all luxury products that nobody really needs. However the majority of these products are luxury items that nobody really needs. If you are trying to be successful in your financial life you need to cut back on excessive spending on luxury products.

Even if you do decide that you want to buy some of the types of products that Quixtar sells, Quixtar is probably not the place to go. Both Quixtar and their individual business operators receive a percentage of each sale. You’re paying for two commissions, where as if you went to a traditional big box store such as WalMart or Target, you would only be paying the markup to the box store. Every Quixtar product has the mark-up built in to the cost of the item.

Quixtar’s prices are just not competitive with the rest of the market. For example, they sell a case of 12 cans of their XS energy drinks for $23.99. This is like paying full retail for cans of energy drinks ($2.00 each), from a traditional retailer. On top of the $23.99 you have to pay shipping too and wait a week to get the product. Instead if you really like energy drinks, you could head down to Wal Mart and purchase a case of 6 energy drinks for much less per can than Quixtar’s offering.

Quixtar also partners with a number of corporations such as Dell and FTD to market their products. I still wouldn’t buy from these partner companies through Quixtar, because you are giving Quixtar a commission and they are giving you no incentive to go through Quixtar. If they were giving you some sort of discount, then I might consider it, but they don’t. When you go through Quixtar, you also often miss out on the opportunities to make use of other deals and coupons (such as the 15% off link to FTD can be found anywhere).

There’s just no good reason to shop there, the prices aren’t competitive, their offerings aren’t anything that anyone really needs, and there’s no incentive to shop at any of Quixtar’s partner sites. I’ll pass.
