I completely disagree. Winning the lottery is not just about spending the money. If I won, I first of all keep it secret. Nobody needs to know and you are right especially NOT the family. I would look at the options first. Lump sum or annual payments. Then i would take the advice of a financial adviser to see how i can invest my money safely so i can live of the dividends or interest for the rest of my life. i would certainly buy a car and a house but nothing fancy. and i would certainly find a part time job or open my own business. staying jome doing nothing is BORING. as for helping others i would at my own discretion.

Very well said ... when one wins money in a lottery, he does not understand its value as he has gained the money without taking any pains. And what happens, most such winners soon go back to the state of penury as they spend the money extravagantly not doing any work. I therefore feel hard earned money is the best - and it will give you sound sleep too.

I would think that if you won one of the gigantic lotteries like the Powerball and someone cut you a lump sum check in the tens of millions you could have a very rewarding life giving that money away.

Sure there would be a lot of pressure involved, but I think that it would be interesting to have all the chairty decisions made by a board of directors the way large companies work. Some people on the board would be family members I trust and some would be local business people. I think that would take a lot of pressure off of me.

I do agree though that winning the lottery would be at least as much of a pain in the ass as it would be fantastic.
