My $35.00 Valentines Day Date.
I was hoping to write about this topic a little bit sooner, but my fiancé happens to read my blog, and if I told you about my inexpensive idea for valentines day early, she’d know what I had planning! We ended up celebrating a day early, because I was in the state capital presenting a research project to the legislature on Valentines day. In the end, I spent a total of $35.00 on valentines, and here’s how I did it.
For our date, I took my beautiful fiancé out to a night restaurant on the lake. She had chicken fried steak, and I had some strange but delicious pasta with chicken in it. We were actually our waiter’s first customer ever, and got really good service from him. It was a true fine dining experience, and in the end we only paid $7.00 for the whole thing! My fiancé got a gift certificate as a gift from the local church as she was on staff there. Our bill ended up being $25.00, but we had a gift-certificate so it was free. We decided to leave a $7.00 tip for the waiter, because he was a really nice guy and gave us the best service I’ve had in five years.
Before I picked her up, I brought her some flowers which I had purchased from a local box store for $18.00. It was a beautiful bouquet that had a mix of just about everything in it. I gave her a card that I had previously and got her a nice box of chocolates. That was about $6.00 all together.
After the dinner, I took her back to my house, and planned a romantic evening of dancing together. I borrowed a disco ball from a friend, strung some Christmas lights around, and got some valentines decorations and some streamers from a local box store for about $4.00. I burned a mix CD of some good slow dancing music, and put it in the stereo. I hooked up everything to this cool remote I had, so when we walked in, all I had to do was push a button and everything started! We danced for a couple of hours and I took her home. She later told me that she had a great time and loved what I had planned for us.
If you’re not careful, it’s very easy to spend a whole lot of money on Valentine’s day and other big anniversary dates. Your dates can go over $100.000 with food, a show, flowers, and the like. The idea that I made use of is just one of many different things that you and your significant other can do to have a great date and save money in the process. Be aware that there are creative ways to have a great date and not spend nearly as much money you might otherwise. Have fun dating!
