I enjoy the Lean Cuisine Paninis myself, but I only purchase them when they are on sale (usually 5 for $10). Here in New Jersey they go for $3.99 each, which is what I would pay for lunch if I went to the local cafe or Subways. When they are on sale I stock up though!

This is a great post--pinching food dollars until they scream usually just isn't worth the cost in family morale. But if you like Banquet dinners, that's great. I personally like ramen noodles for lunch at least once a week, so I know what you mean, Charles.

I eat a Banquet dinner for $1 per day every day for lunch. They're really not that bad.

I feel eating out or groceries makes up about 1% of my income. Therefore I do not see a need to cut back on food ( for as packing lunches) I like variety, therefore packing lunch 5 times a day will not make sense for me. Eating out or cooking I seem to accumulate that same dollar amount.

I feel that house and car payments are the killers.

Food as you said should not be a starting point to save.
