As I do quite often, I wander around and read what other content producers have been writing, and I happened to come across an article written by Daniel Rein, it described how college students could make $250 a month on Associated Content. He went on to say how busy he was, all the activities he was apart o, and that some how he still managed to squeeze an article or two in a day to make $250 a month with Associated Content. I too am in college, but I don’t make $250 a month, In January, I made $1,198 with Associated Content, and average that every month, give or take $100. Here’s how I do it and you can do the same

Before I begin, I’m sure some of you think that I don’t have a real job, or that I’m not involved in any college activities, but you’d be dead wrong. I’m a junior undergraduate studying computer science at Dakota State University. I work 11 hours a week as a technology fellow, 6 hours tutoring, 5-10 hours doing web design, judge high school debate on weekends, work a full time job whenever I am not in school, am editor-in-chief of the college newspaper, and those are just the things I get paid for! I am also a new student orientation leader, the secretary of the campus computer club; I am heavily involved with church and other Christian activities. I am taking 16 credit hours of classes. I have participated in student research, am in two different honors organization, and still find time to spend with my friends. It’s not a question that “you’re too busy” to write enough articles, it’s a matter of motivation. I am going to be very wealthy someday, and in order to attain this goal, I am going to have to work hard in college, and make a lot of money while I am in and after college.

In order to make this money, you have to write a lot of different articles on a lot of different subjects. Sometimes it can be difficult to cram all the writing time in, but it can be done. The first thing is to set a goal for each week for how many articles you want to write. I try to do at least 30 a week, sometimes more depending on how busy I am. I then break that down to how many I plan on doing per day. Usually I do 4 on week days, and 5 on Saturday and Sunday, which gets me up to 30. When the next week begins, I set a new goal for articles, and figure out how I am going to achieve that number.

Most college students will say they just don’t have the time to do extra work, but they don’t manage their time well. Whenever I have an hour in between classes, or an hour to spare here and there, I write an article. I usually get up earlier than I have to write a couple articles before class, and Write a couple at night before I go to bed. When no one needs tutoring, I can use that time to write an article. It’s all about making the best use of your free time. Don’t try to do all of your articles at once in a day, split them up, and they become much easier to write. If you try to do them all at once, on the 3rd or 4th article, you’ll really begin to drag, and it will take forever. Whenever my fiancée and I are driving on the road, she usually likes to drive, so I bust out my laptop and start writing. On a recent 2 hour drive, I got 4 articles written; now that’s efficiency!

If you are going to write articles, you are going to need ideas. In the other article, Mr. Rein suggested that you bring a notebook with you and jot down any article ideas that you get. This is an excellent idea and I have begun that practice thanks to Mr. Rein. Other than that, I get article ideas from AC’s topics list, various blogs I read, clicking ‘random’ on Wikipedia, discussions with friends, things I hear in class, and all over the place. You can get article ideas from anywhere, it’s just a matter of recognizing an ideas potential to be an article when one comes in front of you.

Associated Content appears to be becoming even more lucrative as they are now offering a performance incentive to their writers, which is currently $1.50 for each 1000 visitors that view your articles. In order to be successful with this, you’ll need to make use of a wide variety of promotional techniques.

Yes, it can be done. It’s not a matter of you thinking you don’t have time. It’s a matter of developing a writing process that works for you, and squeezing in articles whenever possible. It can be done, and it can be a very lucrative part-time job.
