Mathew, I guess you have not purchased a new Computer lately. Very few manufactures provide you with restore CD's. Most Manufatures put a restore partion on the same hard drive and provide you with a restore utility to burn your own cd/dvd's. Unfortunitly most people who buy a pc these days do not bother the make these cd's on their own. If you have a catastrophic disk failure you will not be able to restore your computer with out these disks. You can get these from the manufaturer as long as the model is still current. Try to get restore cd's from HP for a model that is 3 to 5 years old and they will tell you that they no longer have them available. These CD's are important and the customer needs educated that they need these. By the store doing this for the customer it provides them with better customer experience when thing can and will go wrong in the future.
