You can come out ahead on GPS equip. That is of course if youre not already using your cell phone for this. Anyways I recieved a Garmin265wt for my birthday last year. My girlfriend always leaves the reciept in the box because she feels like buying me electronics is like me buying her shoes. Let face it, we dont usually pick out what the other person is desiring. Anyways I was pissed when I saw she bought the warranty for my GPS device. But wait.....im a year and a half into owning the thing. I remember when I first registered this thing it gave me access to the latest maps. Now that its a year and a half later, im about to go on a trip and wanted to update the thing and found that they want $70.00 for the new maps! Well my girlfriend only spent $40.00 on the performance garuntee. After reading through the contract it said the warranty is basically a 1 time no questions asked replacement and then the warranty is void. In that case, im waiting till the last week of my in store warranty to return this thing. 1. They may discontinue this model by then. 2. If not, ill at least have a brand new device that I can register as new and get the latest map upgrades now at a savings of $30.00.

I don't agree.Everything is made cheap now a days and breaks right after a year of use. Conn's has a warranty you can buy even on lawn equipment(*most stores do not cover lawn equipment),my mower and weedeater usually have a break, crack or have a problem every single year.
I tell you what- I used the heck out of that 4 year warranty I bought from Conn's Outlet.Lawn equipment does get a lot of abuse.
So do blenders and DVD players. It is good to be covered on BIG TICKET ITEMS or an item you use on a regular basis.Something like a $30.00 coffee maker is not a kind of item worth covering.
However-I would compare warranty prices $ from one store to another.
A warrenty is not worth buying if the price is way high- and for just a little more could buy a brand new item.
anyway...
I hope this is helpful for next time you decide to go go Outlet shopping:)

Best Buy sales reps are not on commission. They are paid by the hour and most could careless if you bought the service plan or not.
