I don't agree with this either, it has loads of advantages, leasing has helped out a lot of people who are struggling with running a car.

In January I signed a 39 month lease with $0 down. So including taxes and interest, I will pay $16k for a $32k car… Since I’m not driving 15,000 miles a year, leasing seems like a pretty good opportunity

With the 16k you spent for that car you could of got a very nice car in cash.
Better yet you could of found a good $7,000 used car. Drove it untill the wheels fell off. At that point you could of saved money for a even nicer car in cash. That is pending your not in debt of course. Also you dont own that car. When the lease is finished you will either have to finance it or let it go which means you have to get in to another lease.

Not long ago we tried to buy a Honda from College Park Honda in Maryland. They basicallly tried to rape us with the lease crap. When I finally caught on, it was just in time, but that is one car dealership that should be nuked.

Everything in the article is exactly as we saw it with College Park Honda - and they are right up the street from the University of Maryland - so you know who their real prey are - college kids who do not need their crap.

Leasing may make sense if a business needs to preserve cash or build cashn reserves. I assume the article refers to personal autos.

Doc.
