Don’t Go Out To Eat on Mondays
Most everyone enjoys the opportunity to go out and enjoy some nice food that we might normally not be able to have at home with some of our friends. It costs a bit more than if we were to prepare the meal for ourselves at home, but this way we get out of cooking for an evening, have an opportunity to have some quality conversation with our friends and family, and can enjoy the dining experience. Most of us know that if we want to go to a buffet style restaurant we should probably go over the noon hour or between 5:30 and 7:00 to get the freshest food, but did you know there are certain days that you’ll receive better quality food than others at restaurants? It’s true.
If you don’t have much of a preference as to when you go out to eat in a week, try to avoid Mondays. Many restaurants serve food on Monday that was prepared for the weekend and didn’t get used. If you’re paying a decent amount of money for a meal, you probably don’t want to be eating day-old or worse yet, two-day old food. To get the freshest food at any restaurant, your best bet is to go later in the week over the noon hour, or from 5:30 to 7:00 at night.
Another good way to avoid being given old and unused ingredients is to avoid the specials that they restaurant is offering. Often those are food items they have a lot of and are having trouble selling. Sometimes the waiter will not tell you the price of the special, and often you aren’t getting a deal at all anyway! Sometimes the soups and stews that restaurants make are from food items that weren’t used over the weekend, so be aware that you might not be getting the same quality ingredients if you were to make the soup at home with ingredients you purchased from a grocery store.
