chartwell of Indianapolis is turning over a 530.00 debt on us that we do not owe- this is from 2006- how can we fight it, the debt is that low a lawyer to fight it would cost more. But I do not want to pay something I do now owe. They stated that they delivered medicine to us and it was not paid for. Not true. MPLAN who was my insurance before they went under said Chartwell was overbilling us and made them send us a check for 400- they went under several months later and Chartwell started calling us.

I recently received a notice from a collection agency stating that I owed 600 from 2001. I noticed that in 2007 I disputed the same account on my credit report and experian investigated the disputed and resulted it was deleted from my report.

What is the next step in dealing with this agency?

We had a computer calling us 5 and 6 times a day for a debt we didn't owe. We ignored it for the longest time, but eventually got so annoyed that we called the collection agency. The debt belonged to somebody else and we could never figure out how they got our name.
