Tattoos were once something that was very limited in popularity and didn’t go much beyond a certain subset of the population. In the last few decades they have become a much more accepted and popular thing to do amongst our nation’s young people. In fact, a recent survey found that among people aged 18-40, over 1/3rd of them now have tattoos. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with getting a tattoo, just make sure you do it in a safe manner and in a way that won’t affect your career.

Getting a tattoo is a big commitment. It’s something that’s going to be with you the rest of your life. If you want to remove it, you’ll have to pay thousands of dollars for a procedure to remove it. It’s not something to be done lightly. After you decide to get a tattoo, wait a week and make sure it is something that you indeed want to do.

Tattoo parlors aren’t regulated in some localities, and in some localities that do regulate tattoo parlors, they don’t go far enough to make sure that the store’s customers are given a tattoo in a safe manner. Find someone in your area that has a few tattoos, they’ll be able to tell you where you should go in your city to get a tattoo. Much like there are some places that you just shouldn’t buy a car from, there are places you just shouldn’t get at tattoo from. Don’t go to a grungy parlor because it’s a little bit cheaper. Go to the most professional tattoo parlor you can find. You might pay a little bit more, but at least you won’t get an infection from it.

When considering what to get for a tattoo, remember that many in the business world view tattoos as unprofessional. It’s definitely a good idea to place your tattoo in a location on your body that most people won’t notice, or at least on a place on your body that will be covered up by clothing whenever you’re at work.

If you really want to get a tattoo, don’t let anyone stop you, just make sure you do it safely and in a manner that won’t hinder your career.
