I wouldn't confuse Freegans with Freecycle. Freecycle is a great place to list or get smaller items that might otherwise wind up in the trash. So are the free listings at Craigslist--which tend to be larger items that were previously listed for sale but didn't sell. Neither of these sources requires dumpster diving or living a Freegan lifestyle. I use both all the time. Just this month, I got rid of my older but fully functional Braun coffeemaker because my sister bought me a new one on Freecylcle, and picked up a free 6' bookcase on Craigslist.

I will and I have.

Especially furniture. But then again, that may not even count, because a lot of times it's not even in the dumpster.

Do you remember that AirTran promotion at Wendys last year? You collect 64 coupons from "Biggie" drinks and you get a free round-trip ticket? I know people who dumpster dove and got 4 free tix. It was easy. (I thought about it, but did it the hard way - got friends and family to give me theirs. LOL)

I would definitely dumpster dive for something worthwhile and have in the past! College campuses are great places to find quality items that can still be in great condition. Just don't go bragging to the ladies about you "sweet" finds.
