Is there any way to tell your vitamin deficiency symptoms are not caused by something more serious?

Why not try herbal medicines? The Chinese are good in concocting one of those. Rather than put in too much medicine in your system, which, in the long run, would not be good for your health. It can even be bad for your other organs, like your liver.

As far as I know it is still controversial if even massive doses of vitamin C works. Another suggested method is to rub aftershave all over your face with the idea being that the vapors kill the virus. Not so sure about that either. It is however possible to make some DIY cough drops: 1/3 whiskey, 1/3 lemon juice, 1/3 honey. In my experience they work just as well as commercial cough drops. The price depends on the vintage of the whisky. My wife once used some of my 10 year old scotch - I was not too happy :O)
