Get Paid to Blog (And it Doesn’t Involve Adsense)

Date February 18, 2008 By Debbie Dragon

Many people are jumping on the blog band-wagon.  Every day, hundreds of blogs are started by new writers, or writers who have just discovered the art of a weblog (the actual term for blogging).

While most people start out writing on a blog because they have something to say and hope someone will read it; blogging is also a viable business opportunity that lets people earn additional money (or in some cases, earn a living) simply writing down their thoughts and ideas for others to read, or by reviewing products and services in a non-biased way that actually helps readers make a decision on which product or brand to buy.

Most articles that discuss how to make money through blogging refer to making money through Google’s adsense.  This is fine, and many people have been able to make that work for them- but adsense is a process that has you making a few cents for sending your website visitors OFF your site.  When someone clicks on the adsense advertisement, they are taken off your blog and to the site of the advertiser.  In exchange for allowing the advertiser to place their link on your site, you might earn 4 cents.

The goal of any website or blog should be to keep the visitors around longer, don’t you think?  Adsense monetized sites are great for higher traffic websites, where the opportunity for lots of clicks can add up to some extra cash, and in fact- there are thousands of websites that exist only to drive traffic to adsense.

For most people though, the adsense revenue earned through your blog isn’t going to pay your bills.  If you’re determined to make money as a blogger, you might be more interested in an opportunity like Snapbomb (http://www.snapbomb.com ) It’s not a completely new concept, as getting paid to do blog marketing has been around a while from various other sites, but what is more unique about Snapbomb is that you get paid to write a blog based on the value of your site.  The site determines what sort of value your own blog has, based on site visitors I believe, and then that is how it comes up with the value it will pay you to blog on your site.

So as your blog receives more visitors, the amount you can get paid for writing a sponsored blog post will be higher.  The more relevant your blog topic is to the sponsored blog post, the more you can get paid to write the blog as well.

You probably won’t get rich doing this method only; but you can certainly increase your income by including a sponsored post now and then.

The trick to using a site like Snapbomb is to work the posts into your blogs naturally, or set up a website that simply reviews various offers and services.  It would be weird to review a website about money on a blog that has previously only talked about Tourette’s Syndrome in children, right?

The sponsored blog posts you write should still be valuable to your blog audience- otherwise you’ll lose your readers, and they’re far more important than the few dollars you earn for the one-time sponsored blog posting.

interesting concept. Have you tried it? What do you think? I think it would be useful especially if you can just tailor the paid posts to your own blog.
