Can Paying Someone to Clean Your Home Be Cheaper Than Doing It Yourself?

How much is your time worth? For example, when you are working and doing activities that directly earn money, how much is that time worth? This may apply more to self employed individuals, but if you think of time and it’s value to be more than money- a stay at home mom can find that her time with the children is priceless, for example, then understanding what your “time is worth” applies to everyone in some way.
Housework takes a lot of time- especially if you’re going to clean the house from top to bottom. Let’s face it, keeping up with bathrooms, kitchens, vaccuuming, and laundry can take hours out of every week (and would take more if you actually were able to KEEP up with it!) As a self employed, work at home mom, I discovered that my time is worth about $50 per hour. If I spend 2 hours a day doing housework and cleaning type activities, that’s $100 each day that has been lost. If I tried to figure out how much quality time those 2 hours a day eat up between my children and I, I could probably increase the value of my hour!
Could I hire a cleaning service for less than $500 a week? (2 hours a day, 5 days a week, at $50 per hour). You bet I could! There are a number of various Maid Service Franchise organizations that come into your home and clean one or more times per week (depending on the schedule you set up). Chances are, you can hire a service to keep your house tidy for far less than it “costs” you to keep up with it on your own.
If you’re looking to own your own house cleaning business, a maid service franchise may be something you’d be interested in, as well.
