You get an upfront and personal look at the lives of the local community and have a great opportunity to take home some very unique souvenirs, like local cookbooks, novelty items, or food specialties. You also may chat up the vendors and learn some things first hand from the farmers and craftspeople themselves who can provide insight into the location you happen to be visiting.
