Many people start out the new year with lofty goals of losing weight. While the majority of people give up before they have given it a fair chance; there are other people who end up throwing in the towel because it is far more expensive to eat healthy than it is to eat… well… not-so-healthy!

If you’re trying to watch your spending or are living within a tight budget, dieting can be very difficult- particularly if you try any of the programs that offer their own food brands, membership fees, or meetings.  Nutrisystem is a prime example of a weight loss/diet company that ends up costing you a fortune! There is a website that offers a totally free diet plan – and when I say free, I don’t mean it’s worthless either.  SparkPeople is a terrific resource for people who are looking to make lifestyle changes and become healthier overall.  You can create a meal plan or use the one they suggest for you, track what you eat and how many calories, carbs and other stuff is in what you eat, and even create an exercise plan.  The resources on the site are outstanding and allows you to diet within your own budget constraints. 

If you find dieting to be expensive and wish there was a less expensive method of becoming healthier, Spark People might be the solution for you.  You can create your grocery list from recipes provided on the site, or do your normal shopping and simply track what you’re eating each day along with your other fitness goals. Many people have also found success with Akavar 20/50, it’s worth looking into.
