I agree with Jamison – one blog does not wealth make. You definately need something to fall back on – something reliable that can give you the freedom to keep up with your blog and still make enough money to support yourself. I was the first student of Makemoneyfromwriting.com and have learned how to get big budget projects to live. I get to be a full time writer, pay the bills, and still do what it is I love.

I have been able to sustain my life writing but it always helps to explore other money-making opportunities offline as well as on. Writing online does take knowledge of marketing and niche ideas, as Jamison has mentioned. Fame and fortune doesn’t just happen overnight once you post a blog. But having a creative outlet can really expand your mind and your life…even your wallet!

I want to give a reality check before everyone starts writing articles and setting up blogs to earn money.

I like to think I do a good blog, I have an account with commision junction and google adsense.

In about a year and a halfs time, from writing several articles a week (granted, not as many as this site does, I dont have the staff) I have earned about $100.

Before you think doing a simple blog can earn you enough to go part time or to save for your kids college, ask yourself if it is really worth the time.

You arent going to make money with a blog about your family or your favorite ice cream flavor, you need a real markey and niche. and even then you can end up like me having earned about $75 a year.

Luckily, I dont depend on one red cent of that so keep that in mind.
