Pharmboy, right on. I didnt read any comments before I commented.
In a nut shell, for those who were educated by the government... our country was formed because a bunch of red necks were pissed about a penny tax. A PENNY!!! They took politicians and tied them up, dunked them in hot tar, then tossed feathers all over them so they would have to PLUCK the tar off their skin. They would make life size replicas of politicans and light them on fire and let them burn in front of the politicians homes. Red necks with hunting guns beat one of the worlds most powerful army because thier government was sticking their nose too deep in the pockets of the citizens. Now, we roll over and show our belly to our publci servants anytime they promise us a scrap from the table or ask us for more money, then they whip us with a newspaper as we tuck our tails and run under the table after they have taken what they want from us.

American citizens have become a nation of puppy dogs, when we were once a nation of strong INDIVIDUALS standing together. Cant wait to get my goverment check!!!! All my financial problems will be over!... well, at least for 4 or 5 days.

I stopped getting into political discussions after this past election. I learned that all of the senatros and congressmen with the exception of a very small minority are working for me for their own personal gain and could care less what the american people think or feel. They will spend our money as they wish. However, one thing strikes me odd about this glorious plan...
Yeah, it would be awesome...

If we had the money.

We don't. Please, be aware that our countries budget is in the NEGATIVE! When the republicans elected GWB, they thought they were electiong a man with Republican principals which includes smaller government. Well, he almost trippled the size of government and their spending of our money.

Now, we hear this awesome plan from Obama about him giving us all wads of cash.... yet none of us ask "Where is that money coming from?" Some people are so dim that they think "Oh, the government is giving us some of their money!"

Wrong.

The government is giving away YOUR money. They are giving away MY money. They are giving away the company you WORK for's money. They are essentially just printing more money and going further into debt. Eventually SOMEONE has to pay for it. Guess who gets to pay for it? You.

"But, but, but, he said he wouldn't tax me, only evil rich people!"
1) He is a politician, trust him just a tad more than you'd trust a rabid racoon to not tip over your garbage can full of apple pie left overs. I'd count on him to go back on his promise or at least lower who is "rich" to something like $40,000 a year.

2) No matter who you are, you'll feel tax increases. If you have a job, then you likely work for an "evil rich person". When that ERP gets taxed, he isn't going to just take it out of his own pocket, he is going to make cuts at his business. If an ERB owns a grocery store, and his taxes are increased, rather than pay it out of his pocket, he will either fire people, or raise the cost of bread and milk... that YOU have to pay for.

This bailout is a sham and targets the support of people who have numbed their minds to common sense. I wish they taught this stuff in school, but hey.. the government runs the schools now.

My advice? Horde all your dough till the economy collapses and rebuilds itself on its own. If the government stays out of this mess it will fix itself in a few years. If the government gets involved by printing more money and taxes our @$$es off, it will destroy the value of our dollar. When people who dont know how to spend money win the lottery, they are broke in a year. When smart people win the lottery, they are set for life. Feeding more money into a system that is broken will not fix anything,.

I stopped reading Sherry's comment after: "new badly needed green jobs". We don't need green jobs, we need jobs, and apparently not that many since unemployment is only at 7%. We badly need permanent tax cuts and a reduction in the government by about two-thirds and, oh for fun, an actual respect for the constitution. The vast majority of the power the government wields over us is not empowered to the federal government by the constitution. The colonists went to war over less.

There could be no better investment in America than to invest in America becoming energy independent! We need to utilize everything in out power to reduce our dependence on foreign oil including using our own natural resources. Create cheap clean energy, new badly needed green jobs, and reduce our dependence on foreign oil. OPEC will continue to cut production until they achieve their desired 80-100. per barrel. The high cost of fuel this past year seriously damaged our economy and society. Oil is finite. We are using oil globally at the rate of 2X faster than new oil is being discovered. We need to take some of these billions in bail out bucks and bail ourselves out of our dependence on foreign oil. It would cost the equivalent of 60 cents a gallon to charge and drive an electric car. If all gasoline cars, trucks, and SUV's instead had plug-in electric drive trains, the amount of electricity needed to replace gasoline is about equal to the estimated wind energy potential of the state of North Dakota. Jeff Wilson has a really good new book out called The Manhattan Project of 2009 Energy Independence Now. He explores our uses of oil besides gasoline, our depletion, out reserves and stores as well as viable options to replace oil.Oil is finite, it will run out in the not too distant future. WE need to take some of these billions in bail out bucks and bail America out of it's dependence on foreign oil. The historic high price of gas this past year did serious damage to our economy and society. WE should never allow others to have that much power over our economy again. I wish every member of congress would read this book too.
