I am glad to see this post because it is pretty much what I went through and realized when I attempted to move out and would have been broke if I did go through with it.

I think it makes sense to have at least like 2 or 3K as start up to move in plus a few more thousands saved up in case you loose a job, maybe have a few months of expenses covered.
