As with most insurance policies, one of the key benefits is peace of mind. Only the cardholder can decide whether they need the cover such a policy provides. Naturally, the premium will increase in line with what you are covered for and although i personally would not recommend i agree with your sentiment that it is a personal decision.

I would say, generally, no. If you’re in good standing, you’ll probably be able to pay your bill – i.e. the people who need this most won’t qualify. And everyone should be putting money towards their balance whenever possible.
