Or, "Hey, my family is in New York for the week and I am thinking about flying out to stay with them for the weekend. Can you let me know the best deal on a package that will include air and a hotel?" I am a frequent business travel and often book complicated itineraries. I have tried to us many different travel agents and invariably have discovered the following: (i) they are never cheaper - I can always get the same or better prices by doing my own search online; (ii) they frequently make mistakes or just get me horrible seats on the plane; (iii) they make stupid decisions, like getting me on a flight that is just at the wrong time, makes too many connections or that are against my stated wishes. In short: I have not yet found a travel agent I can work with and I have no more time to waste on trying to find a competent one. I gotta disagree with you.
