Cell phones are a basic means of communication in today’s society. Everyone has one, and if you don’t it can be very cell_phone_plans_250x251hard to communicate with anyone. Cell phone companies take advantage of this and charge outrageous amounts of money for their phones and their service. Here are some ways to stay connected in the digital age, but save yourself some cash.
Take Advantage of Deals: When your contract is about to run out, many companies start sending a barrage of deals in hopes of reeling you in to sign another contract. Take a look at these deals and see if they interest you. Currently I am looking to receive a free phone upgrade if I sign another two year contract. Since most phones are damaged or useless after two years, this free upgrade can be very useful and save you a good amount of money.
No Contract: Using prepaid phones, or phones that offer no contract, can often save you money in the long run. Some companies charge upwards of $400 dollars if you wish to terminate your contract for any reason. If you are not under a contract, there won’t be any extra charges if you ever feel the need to go a different way.
This can also be useful if you wish to use the same service without a contract. The way to achieve this is to allow your contract to run out, and then continue to use the service and pay your bill each month. If you ever decide to go with another company, you won’t have to pay a charge for breaking a contract. The only downside is, usually you cannot receive a phone upgrade without re-signing a contract.

Don’t Pay for Extra Services You Don’t Use:
Some companies attach fees to your bills that you may not be aware of. They could be charging you $20 a month for mobile web access when you never use mobile web. They may also charge you to send text messages. The best bet on this if you aren’t a constant texter is to get the lowest texting plan they offer. Many times this will cost less than the occasional texts you send out.
Don’t be taken advantage of by cell phone companies. They can be very sneaky, but when you do your research, you can outsmart them very easily. They may be tough, but they can be beaten.
