It's not just about the value of investment portfolios - the cost of any sort of retirement income has shot up in the last few decades (whether or not you buy an annuity) because of increased life expectancy and lower interest rates, The result in the UK is that most people face a pensions crisis - and although the regulatory and tax rules about retirement are different in the US, the same fundamentals apply.<br>In the UK we are starting up an independent new venture, called "Beat the Pensions Crisis", to help people with this problem. Many of the ideas are transferrable to the US - for example the concept of a 'pensions turbocharger' that kicks in when you retire later.

Many Seniors have seen their investment portfolios dwindle in value. They are faced with some really hard choices. Many won't be able to retire as comfortably as planned due to loss of their portfolio values. Some might have to work extra years but many will not be able to recoup their losses. i feel badly for many folks but they knew the consequences of risk. Many Seniors should have rolled their money over into safe money vehicles since they were nearing retirement. Since time is not on their side should some recoup great losses, they should have opted for a safer return on their money.
