When the folks at Apple make an announcement just to tell people they are making an announcement in a month, you know something big is in the works.  Apple took the world by storm with the iPhone and now the iPod Touch, but the gang isn’t ready to stop there! The company founded by super-techie Steve Jobs seems to be getting ready to say  something and judging by the rumors, they want to make sure everyone is listening.

Two days before Christmas, the Financial Times announced that Apple has rented the stage at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco for several days at the end of January, 2010. Apple is keeping things close to the core, but people are guessing at the breaking news. Could it be that what may be the most technologically advanced company around is releasing a tablet touchscreen computer, rumored to be 7- 10 inches in size? What could be dubbed the iSlate is creating a  buzz before its existence is even announced. MacRumors.com has said that Apple has owned the domain name iSlate.com since 2007.

There are further rumors that Apple has ordered a slew of 10 inch display monitors, according to a website located in Taiwan. Other sources are claiming other hardware has been ordered as well. Apple doesn’t  currently have a product with a 10 inch monitor, so it seems likely a new product is in the works. Millions of fans are eagerly awaiting the tablet touchscreen and are placing bets the time has come.

Don’t be surprised if the new product turns out to be an e-reader to rival the Kindle and others, however. Some sources are convinced the new product will come in the form of an electronic reader, due to the overwhelming demand for the Kindle along with the fact that Barnes and Noble is releasing an e-reader as well. MacRumors.com as well as Tech Crunch  say Apple owns the domain name iGuide.com. Some speculators think iGuide.com could be the app store if the new product turns out to be an e-reader.

Still other sources are expecting the announcement to pertain to video and subscription TV being made available for iTunes, the company’s music download center. Apple has reportedly been in negotiations for video subscriptions with TV networks for some time now.

It’s important to remember, though, amidst all the rumors that many an analyst attempted to predict the iPhone and exactly what the wonder phone would include and no one got it right. Apple has a track record of surprising us with their innovations and its quite likely they will do it again. We can be sure of one thing – whatever Apple has up its sleeve for January 29, 2010, we want to see it- and millions will line up to buy it!
