Audio books have long provided company to commuters, travelers and those at the gym. You can get just about any book you might want in audio form and now there’s an easy way to get them. As music distribution moved into the digital world via the iTunes Music Store and other services, it only made sense that a company does the same thing for audio books—that’s Audible.com. Here’s our review of Audible.

Audible’s library is the largest audio book repository available on the web.  The company is currently offering over 60,000 titles, fiction and non-fiction alike. You can find anything from best-selling authors like Dean Koontz and Stephen King to obscure science fiction books. Audible also has their own recording studio and have done some books they call “Audible Originals.” Our favorite Audible Original so far is “Sense, and Sensibility and Sea Monsters” by Ben Winters.

Audible has far more than books for content as well. You can also subscribe to magazines, radio shows, podcasts and stand-up comedy acts. You can also download recent as well as historical speeches from icons that shape the culture, politics and the business world. You can listen to audio books from Audible on a number of different devices, including Apple’s iPod, Microsoft’s Zune, and the Amazon Kindle. Audible works on all different makes and models of MP3 players as well as both the PC and the Mac. If you don’t have any fancy devices and want to take your audio books on the road, you can even burn your books to a CD.
