How to Get a Free Audio Book from Audible.com
Audio books are becoming an increasing popular way to read as consumers find themselves with increasingly long commutes and less time to read at home. Up until a few years ago, you would have to carry around dozens of CDs or tapes to listen to the content that you want, but with the widespread of proliferation of MP3 players and the increasing availability of best sellers in audio book form, it’s easier than ever to enjoy the content that you’d like in the format that you want.
There are a few different services that you can use to get audio books onto your Computer, iPod, Zune, or other digital media device. Audible.com is the most well-known of these services and has the largest selection amongst any of its competitors. Audible has audio books in just about every genre, and even has its own recording studio to make audio books from texts that were previously unavailable.
There are also a few places that you can get public domain audio-books online such as LibriVox or freeclassicaudiobooks.com. You can usually get copies of the classics for free, but if you want to get an audio book of anything that’s still under the realm of copyright, you will generally have a very thin selection to choose from. Other people turn to their local library to checkout audio books, but typically you’ll have to check those out in tape or CD form and still have a very limited selection.
If you have a long commute or are otherwise interest in audio books, Audible may be worth looking into. The company has a number of different plans to choose from, allowing you to purchase books ala-carte or get one book a month for $14.95 or two books per month for $22.95. Audible also has annual versions of its plans for $149.50 and $229.50, getting you 12 or 24 audio books at once.
The prices are fairly in-line with what you would get if you purchased an e-book online or an audiobook from another source. If you’re interested in giving Audible a try, the service offers a number of really good coupon-links that allow you to get a free audio book if you sign up for a trial of their “gold plan.”

If you don’t plan on continuing with the service, just make sure to cancel the service before your renewal date comes up. This is typically 30 days after you sign-up for your free trial. You can cancel from their website and it’s really a no-hassle process if you aren’t interest in continuing and just want your one or three free audio books.
