Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) Can’t Meet iPad Demand, Delays Shipments Internationally
Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) has delayed the launch of its iPad tablet computer to Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and the U.K. because the company underestimated “how quickly they would sell in the U.S” and that Apple “more than 500,000 of the devices in a week”, according to a new report from Bloomberg.
Demand for iPad tablet computers are expected to surpass supply for the next several weeks. Apple had originally planned to launch the device in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and the U.K. from the end of April.
Analysts believe that the delay will not damage international sales for the iPad, however. Charlie Wolf, an analyst at Needham & Co. in New York, wrote that Apple will easily sell 1.25 million iPads by the end of the second quarter. “People are not going to go out and buy a competing product because there’s no competing product,” Wolf said.
