Audible, a service which offers downloadable audio books to consumers, has recently began a television campaign in which viewers can receive a free audio book and thirty days of free service with the following url: audible.com/tvoffer.

Users that take advantage of the offer will receive a 14 day free subscription to Audible‘s “Gold Package” which under normal circumstances, would cost $14.95 per month. The free trial gold membership entitles users to one credit, which is enough to purchase most audio books.

Audible currently has more than 85,000 titles in its library and is compatible with Apple’s iPod and more than 500 other MP3 Players. If you aren’t familiar with Audible’s  audio book subscription service and have an interest in audio books, you’re missing out. Audible.com, owned by Amazon, has a near monopoly in the sales of audio books online. The service has more than 60,000 titles and you can also download audio-versions of magazines, newspapers and listen to famous public speeches. You can listen to your Audible audio books on both Mac and Windows including a number of portable audio devices including the Apple iPod, the iPad, Android-based cell phones (soon), Amazon’s Kindle and the Microsoft Zune.

The disclaimer on Audible’s ad says, “Get your first 30 days of the AudibleListener® Gold membership plan free, which includes one audiobook credit, plus a bonus credit. After your 30 day trial, your membership will renew each month for just $14.95 per month so you can continue to receive one audiobook credit per month plus members-only discounts on all audio purchases. A very small number of titles are more than one credit. Cancel your membership before your free trial period is up and you will not be charged. Thereafter, cancel anytime, effective the next billing cycle. Any unused audiobook credits will be lost at cancellation.”
